Quick start guide

Go from empty workspace to tracked stock in under 15 minutes: locations, units, products, and your first inbound receipt.

What you'll set up

IEMSuite tracks stock by lot across physical locations, so a little setup up front makes everything after it accurate. This guide takes you from an empty workspace to real, tracked inventory in about 15 minutes. You'll create a storage location, add the units and products you work with, and record your first inbound receipt.

Before you start

  • You'll need a workspace and an account that can create products and receive stock (the person who signs the workspace up is an admin by default).
  • Have a short list of your products (name, SKU, unit) and where you store them.

Step 1 - Create your first location

Every stock movement in IEMSuite is tied to a location, so create at least one before receiving anything.

  1. Open Inventory in the sidebar, then click Go to Locations on the Inventory Analytics screen.
  2. Click Add Location.
  3. Give it a name (for example, "Main Warehouse"), choose the type (Warehouse), and save.

You can add zones, racks, and bins later - see Setting up warehouses, zones, racks & bins.

Step 2 - Add the units you measure in

Units of measure (kg, L, units, cases…) keep quantities consistent everywhere. Manage them under Settings → Organization, on the Units tab - set them up once and reuse them on every product. See Setting up units of measure.

Step 3 - Add your products

  1. Open Inventory → Product Catalog and click Add Product.
  2. Fill in Product Name, SKU, Type, and Unit of Measure (these are required).
  3. Optionally set a Default Unit Cost, Default Supplier, Shelf Life (Days), and a Low Stock Threshold.

Not sure which type to pick? Read Product types explained.

Step 4 - Receive your first stock

  1. Open Inventory → Inbound Log and start a new inbound record.
  2. Enter the Supplier Name, Received Date, and the storage location.
  3. Add each product with its quantity and a lot number (and expiry date if it applies).
  4. Save. Your stock is now on hand and every unit is traceable to its lot.

Step 5 - Connect Shopify (optional)

If you sell on Shopify, connect your store so orders sync in and stock levels sync out automatically. See Connecting your Shopify store.
