How the two-way sync works
IEMSuite is the source of truth for your stock. When your Shopify store is connected, stock levels flow out to Shopify and order events flow in from Shopify - automatically and in real time - so your storefront never sells what you don't have.
Outbound: stock levels → Shopify
When stock changes in IEMSuite - you receive, produce, adjust, or ship - the updated level is pushed to the matching Shopify product (linked by SKU). Shoppers see accurate availability, which is what prevents overselling.
Inbound: orders → IEMSuite
When a customer buys on Shopify, the order syncs into Orders so you can fulfill it with full lot and stock accuracy. See Fulfilling a Shopify order.
Keeping it reliable
- Products are matched by SKU - keep them identical on both sides.
- IEMSuite securely stores an offline access token so it can update Shopify even when no one is signed in, and every request to Shopify is verified.
Tips
- Do stock-affecting work (receiving, production, shipping) in IEMSuite so it stays authoritative and Shopify follows.
- If a product's availability looks wrong in Shopify, check the SKU match first.
