From product identity to reviewed count

PRODUCT · PKG-104

Recorded stock120 units
Physical count118 units
Difference to review−2 units

A working day · example scenario

The shelf and the screen disagree.

A busy receiving desk has similar-looking products, and the next count finds fewer units than the system shows. Correcting the balance without checking the product and the difference can hide the original mistake.

  1. Identify the item at receiving

Assign a product barcode, then use a keyboard-input scanner in the inbound form to find the product. Confirm the receipt details before saving.

  2. Compare the physical quantity

During a cycle count, enter the quantity actually found and review the difference against recorded stock. A discrepancy becomes something to check, not a silent overwrite.

  3. Leave a record of the correction

Confirm the adjustment after reviewing the difference. Stock changes that occurred during the count are checked before saving, and confirmed corrections become stock movements.

What you leave with

A reviewed stock correction that the next person can understand from the movement history.

Why we connect
these records.

We connect product identification to receiving and counting because speed at the scanner is only useful when the resulting stock record is trustworthy. The same product identity follows the workflow into a traceable adjustment.

Inside the workflow

Product barcodes

Assign barcodes to products and generate barcode values from the product form.

Scan during receiving

Use a keyboard-input barcode scanner to find products in the inbound stock form.

Physical counts

Compare counted quantities with recorded stock and review differences before adjustment.

Traceable adjustments

Record confirmed count differences as stock movements. Concurrent stock changes are checked before saving.

Before you bring
it to your team.

Can I use a handheld barcode scanner?

Yes, this workflow supports scanners that enter barcode values as keyboard input. Assign the value to the product before scanning it in the inbound form. Camera scanning is not included in this workflow.

Does entering a count immediately change stock?

Review the counted quantity and its difference before confirming the adjustment. The save checks for concurrent stock changes; confirmed differences are recorded as movements.
