How a batch moves through automotive

Standards automotive operations work under

IEMSuite is not certified against any of these. What it does is hold the records they ask you to be able to produce.

IATF 16949

What it asks for
Traceability sufficient to identify affected product in a containment action, with records of nonconforming material and corrective action.
Where the record comes from
Lot genealogy bounds the affected population, and QC failures open an NCR with quarantine and an audit trail. IEMSuite is not certified to IATF 16949; a supplier pursuing certification would use these records as evidence, not as the certification.

PPAP submission

What it asks for
Part submission evidence including material certifications and dimensional results tied to a specific production run.
Where the record comes from
QC results and component lots attach to the production batch they came from, which is the run-level evidence a PPAP package draws on. Assembling and submitting the package stays a manual process.

AIAG traceability expectations

What it asks for
Ability to identify the build window and the material behind a suspect part quickly enough to contain it.
Where the record comes from
Batches carry their build date, operator and component lots, so containment starts from a bounded window rather than a date range guess.

Automotive inventory questions

What traceability does an automotive customer expect from a small supplier?

The practical test is a containment request: given a suspect part, how quickly can you name every unit built from the same material and where each one shipped. Customers care less about the system than about the answer arriving in hours. Heat number to batch to shipment is the chain that produces it.

How do I bound a containment action instead of quarantining everything?

By recording which material lot each build consumed. Without that link, containment is defined by a date range, which always over-captures. With it, the affected population is exactly the batches that used the suspect lot, and the difference is usually an order of magnitude in scrap and freight.

How should suppliers track heat numbers through production?

Store the heat number as the lot identity at receipt and let production consume that lot specifically. The common failure is recording the heat number on the certificate but issuing material from a pooled stock figure, which breaks the link at the first operation.

Does IEMSuite support IATF 16949 certification?

It supports the record keeping the standard asks for - traceability, nonconforming material control, corrective action records with an audit trail - but it is not certified to IATF 16949 and no software makes an operation compliant. Certification is granted against your processes by an accredited body; these records are evidence you bring to that audit.
