Production Lines
Configure production lines in IEMSuite to organize your manufacturing operations, assign recipes, and track capacity and throughput.
Production Lines represent physical manufacturing assets - a mixing tank, an assembly line, a bottling machine, a bakery oven. They help you organize production batches and track which equipment produced which output.
What Are Production Lines?
Production lines are optional organizational units. You can run production batches without assigning a line, but using lines gives you:
- Traceability - know which machine produced each batch
- Capacity planning - see how many batches a line has run vs. its capacity
- Scheduling - view a line's batch queue to avoid conflicts
- Reporting - compare throughput and yield across lines
Creating a Production Line
Go to Settings → Organization → Production Lines
Open the Production Lines tab.
Click "Add Line"
Enter the line name (e.g., "Mixing Tank A", "Assembly Line 2").
Set the location
Which warehouse or production floor does this line sit in? The output stock will default to this location.
Enter daily capacity (optional)
Maximum number of standard batches per day. Used for capacity utilization metrics.
Add notes
Machine serial number, maintenance schedule, or other reference info.
Save
The line is now selectable when creating recipes and production batches.
Assigning Recipes to Lines
Each recipe can be associated with one or more production lines. This association is informational - it does not prevent you from creating a batch on a different line. It is used as a default suggestion when creating a new production batch.
Line Capacity
If you set a daily capacity on a production line, the Manufacturing Dashboardshows a capacity gauge: batches completed today vs. maximum daily capacity. This is useful for spotting bottlenecks and planning shift schedules.
Production Line Reports
In the Inventory → Cost Analysis section, line-level reporting shows:
- Total batches per line in a date range
- Average yield per line (planned vs. actual output)
- Total material consumed per line
- Cost per unit output per line
Use this data to identify underperforming lines and prioritize maintenance.
