OEE and production operations

Set line capacity, plan shifts, record downtime and review production performance with the supporting shop-floor workflows.

Use recorded production and downtime to see where a line loses productive time. OEE analytics, SPC trends, genealogy and CAPA require Scale. Your role must also allow the relevant production, inventory or quality action.

Start with the line and calendar

1

Set the production line inputs

In Company settings, edit the production line. Enter the hourly rate in the output unit and the daily capacity. Negative values are rejected. OEE performance uses the hourly rate.

2

Open Production, then Shift Calendar

Choose the line and month. Fill normal working days, then edit exceptions and holidays. The default working-week choice is Monday through Friday, 480 minutes a day.

3

Check the date range

Calendar and OEE reporting dates use UTC. A saved holiday has zero planned minutes. A date without a saved schedule uses the line operating-hours fallback.

Read the OEE dashboard

Open Production, then OEE. Choose a line and date range. Availability, performance and quality multiply to produce OEE:

  • Availability is operating minutes divided by planned minutes. Only unplanned stops reduce operating time. Overlapping stops are counted once.
  • Performance compares produced quantity with the hourly-rate capacity during operating time.
  • Quality is produced quantity minus scrap, divided by produced quantity.

Missing hourly rate, mixed output units, zero planned time or insufficient production can make a component undefined. Fix the underlying inputs instead of interpreting missing data as zero. Completed batches supply production output; this is recorded operational data, not a machine sensor feed.

Record downtime by QR

Generate the line QR link from its QR screen. On a phone, choose a reason and start the stop; end it when work resumes. A new link replaces the previous token. Treat the QR as access to that line's stop-entry screen and revoke it if it is shared outside the intended team. Invalid tokens reveal no line data.

Dispatch and operator instructions

Assign planned or released batches to a working shift on their production line. Started and closed batches keep their dispatch history. A shift with assigned batches cannot be removed or changed into a nonworking day.

Add optional ordered steps to a recipe, including safety notes and expected duration. Operators see the current recipe instructions in batch details. These instructions are not an immutable snapshot of the recipe at batch creation.

Operator training records match team members to lines and may include an expiry date. Missing or expired training produces a warning when releasing or starting a batch; it does not prevent the action. Completing a batch records the authenticated user's name, ID and actual signing time. This completion record is not a claim of regulatory electronic-signature certification.

Quality and corrective actions

The QC Trend view charts numeric inspection results and calculated control limits. Capability requires suitable specification limits and enough valid observations. A missing capability value is not evidence of a capable process.

On a non-conformance, create corrective actions with an owner and due date. Submit completion evidence for review; rejected work returns for correction. The NCR cannot close while its required actions await approval. Overdue work remains visible for follow-up. In Quality control → CAPA, choose New corrective action, select an open NCR, enter the action plan, responsible person and due date, then Create action. Use Complete to submit evidence; an authorized reviewer can approve or reject it. Approval of the last outstanding action closes the NCR.

Calibration schedules

Open Production → Calibration and choose New Schedule. Enter the instrument title, next due date, cycle (30, 90, 180 or 365 days), and any standard, certificate number or scope notes. Calibration uses maintenance records with the Calibration type and requires Scale.

When the work is done, open its completion action, enter the certificate reference, standard and results, and select Record Completion. Leave Automatically schedule next calibration cycle selected to create the next record once. Its due date is calculated from the completion time plus the cycle, not from the old due date. Clear that option if no further cycle is needed.

These fields store references and notes; they do not upload or validate a certificate. The reminder job includes overdue work and records due within 14 days, sends to active users with production-read permission and throttles repeat mail for 20 hours. Delivery depends on the configured mail service. Keeping a record does not certify regulatory compliance.

Traceability and Andon

Open Lot Traceability and search a lot number. Upstream results follow recorded material consumption; downstream results follow completed production and shipped or delivered orders. Check shipment records when assessing a recall. The screen does not contact customers or execute a recall, and unrecorded movements cannot appear in its genealogy.

Andon provides a read-only display refreshed every 30 seconds. An authorized user creates, replaces or revokes its access link. Anyone holding a valid link can view the intended display, so share it only with the intended audience.

Notifications and sector comparisons

Under OEE, open Alerts and anonymous benchmarking. Choose the low-OEE threshold and weekly summary preference. Daily calculations run after 02:00 UTC; Monday summaries cover the previous Monday through Sunday and show change in percentage points and the top downtime reasons.

Mail goes to active team members who can read production data. Failed deliveries remain retryable. Recorded-best notifications need an earlier recorded daily result for comparison.

Sector comparisons are optional. Choose a sector and opt in; results require at least five other participating companies. Only rounded aggregates are shown, with one average per company. This is a comparison of participating workspaces, not a representative industry standard.

Every guided tour is optional. Open How to use this page for a short explanation, or use IEMSuite Academy from the header Help menu. Sales demo publishing is restricted to platform administrators using sample workspaces; ordinary customer workspaces cannot publish their production data through that demo feature.
