Production Batches
Create and manage production batches in IEMSuite - from planning through execution, lot assignment, output logging, and batch closure.
A Production Batch is a single manufacturing run that consumes raw materials and produces finished or semi-finished goods. Batches tie together your recipes, stock lots, quality control, and cost tracking.
What Is a Production Batch?
Each batch captures:
- Recipe - what was produced and how
- Scale - multiplier applied to the standard recipe quantities
- Target output - planned quantity to produce
- Actual output - what was actually produced
- Raw material consumption - which lots were consumed and how much
- Output lot - the new stock lot created for finished goods
- Start and end times - for production duration tracking
Creating a Batch
Open Inventory → Production → New Production Batch
Select the recipe you want to run.
Set the scale or target quantity
Enter either a batch scale multiplier (e.g., 2× = double recipe) or a target output quantity. The system calculates required raw material quantities automatically.
Select a production line (optional)
Pre-filled if the recipe has a default line.
Set planned start date
Used for scheduling. Defaults to today.
Review material requirements
IEMSuite shows whether sufficient stock is available for each ingredient. Insufficient stock is flagged in red.
Create Batch
Batch moves to PLANNED status. No stock is consumed yet.
Batch Statuses
- PLANNED - Created, materials not yet consumed
- IN_PROGRESS - Production is running; raw material lots are reserved
- QC_PENDING - Output awaiting quality inspection before going to AVAILABLE
- CLOSED - Batch complete; COGS calculated; lots fully updated
Consuming Raw Materials
When you start a batch (move to IN_PROGRESS), IEMSuite suggests which raw material lots to consume based on your organization's FIFO or FEFO strategy. You can accept the suggestion or manually select different lots.
Lot consumption deducts the quantity from the raw material lots and records aCONSUME transaction on each.
Logging Output
When production finishes, log the actual output quantity. IEMSuite creates a newStock Lot for the finished goods at the production line's location. You can set a custom lot number, add an expiry date, and adjust the output quantity to reflect actual yield.
QC on Production Output
If the output product has QC enabled, the new output lot enters PENDING_QCstatus and a QC inspection job is created. The batch moves to QC_PENDINGstatus until the inspection is approved. On approval, the lot becomes AVAILABLEand the batch closes.
Closing a Batch
A batch closes when:
- Output is logged (and QC passes, if applicable)
- COGS is calculated from actual material consumption and overhead
- The output lot is set to AVAILABLE in inventory
