Downtime Tracking
Record and analyze equipment downtime events in IEMSuite to measure production efficiency and drive maintenance decisions.
Downtime Tracking captures every equipment stoppage or production interruption, helping you measure Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) and identify the root causes of lost production time.
What Is Downtime Tracking?
Every time a production line or piece of equipment stops unexpectedly - or is taken offline for planned maintenance - you can log a downtime event. The event records:
- Which production line was affected
- Start time and end time (duration is calculated automatically)
- Category (planned vs. unplanned, and the specific reason)
- Description and any corrective actions taken
Recording a Downtime Event
Go to Inventory → Production → Downtime
Click "Log Downtime."
Select the production line
Choose which line or piece of equipment was down.
Enter start and end times
Or start the timer now and stop it when the line resumes.
Select a category
Choose the downtime type (see Downtime Categories below).
Add a description
What happened? What was done to resolve it?
Save
The downtime event is recorded and included in production efficiency reports.
Downtime Categories
PLANNED
Scheduled maintenance, changeovers, cleaning, or calibration. Expected stoppages that are part of the normal production schedule.
UNPLANNED
Unexpected equipment failures, breakdowns, raw material shortages, or process problems. Unplanned downtime is the primary target for improvement.
Downtime Reports
In Inventory → Production → Downtime, view:
- Total downtime hours by line and period
- Planned vs. unplanned breakdown
- Most frequent downtime causes (Pareto analysis)
- Average time between failures per line
