Order Types Overview

Learn about the different order types in IEMSuite - B2B manual orders and Shopify B2C orders - and when to use each.

IEMSuite handles two categories of orders, each with a distinct flow suited to different fulfillment scenarios.

B2B Orders

  • Manually created
  • Wholesale / trade clients
  • Full lifecycle: Quote → Completed
  • Lot-level shipment packing
  • Payment terms field

Shopify Orders

  • Auto-imported from Shopify
  • Consumer / DTC orders
  • Fulfillment synced back to Shopify
  • Inventory decremented in real-time
  • Returns supported via Shopify

B2B Orders

B2B orders are created manually for wholesale, trade, or direct business customers. They support complex fulfillment scenarios like partial shipments, lot-level packing slips, credit payment terms, and multi-location picking.

Shopify (B2C) Orders

When Shopify integration is active, new Shopify orders are automatically pulled into IEMSuite (near real-time via webhooks). IEMSuite handles the inventory deduction and sends fulfillment confirmation back to Shopify after the order is packed and shipped.

Shopify orders are read-only in IEMSuite - you cannot edit customer details, line items, or pricing. All edits must be done in Shopify admin and will sync back within minutes.
Moving stock between locations? That is not an order - it is a stock transfer. Open the stock lot you want to move (Inventory → Stock Lots), click Transfer, and select the destination location. A TRANSFER transaction is created automatically.

Order Numbering

IEMSuite auto-generates order numbers using a race-safe sequence. The format is configurable in Settings → Organization → Order Number Format. Default: ORD-2024-0001. Shopify orders retain their Shopify order number as a reference field.
