Order Types Overview
Learn about the different order types in IEMSuite - B2B manual orders and Shopify B2C orders - and when to use each.
IEMSuite handles two categories of orders, each with a distinct flow suited to different fulfillment scenarios.
B2B Orders
- Manually created
- Wholesale / trade clients
- Full lifecycle: Quote → Completed
- Lot-level shipment packing
- Payment terms field
Shopify Orders
- Auto-imported from Shopify
- Consumer / DTC orders
- Fulfillment synced back to Shopify
- Inventory decremented in real-time
- Returns supported via Shopify
B2B Orders
B2B orders are created manually for wholesale, trade, or direct business customers. They support complex fulfillment scenarios like partial shipments, lot-level packing slips, credit payment terms, and multi-location picking.
Shopify (B2C) Orders
When Shopify integration is active, new Shopify orders are automatically pulled into IEMSuite (near real-time via webhooks). IEMSuite handles the inventory deduction and sends fulfillment confirmation back to Shopify after the order is packed and shipped.
Choosing the Right Type
| Scenario | Use This |
|---|---|
| Wholesale customer places a trade order | B2B Order |
| Consumer buys from your Shopify store | Shopify Order (auto-imported) |
| Moving pallets from Warehouse A to Warehouse B | Stock Lot Transfer (not an order) |
| Sending samples to a potential client (no charge) | B2B Order with $0 price |
| Sales rep manually takes an order from a store visit | B2B Order |
Order Numbering
IEMSuite auto-generates order numbers using a race-safe sequence. The format is configurable in Settings → Organization → Order Number Format. Default: ORD-2024-0001. Shopify orders retain their Shopify order number as a reference field.
