Billing Mode Explained

Understand how IEMSuite's billing mode works - what changes when billing is OFF (BETA) vs ON (production), and how the transition affects your account.

What Is Billing Mode?

IEMSuite has a system-wide Billing Mode switch. When Billing Mode is OFF, the platform is in free beta - all features are available with no payment required. When Billing Mode is ON, the platform charges subscriptions based on the plan each organization selected.

Billing Mode OFF

Current state (BETA). Every feature is unlocked for every organization. No payment methods required. Plan limits are not enforced.

Billing Mode ON

Future production state. Organizations are charged based on their selected plan. Plan feature limits are enforced. New organizations start on a trial.

Current State: Billing Mode OFF (Beta)

Right now, all of the following apply:

  • All features are unlocked - regardless of which plan you selected during registration
  • No warehouse limits - you can create unlimited warehouses
  • No payment information required - there is no credit card field visible in Settings → Billing
  • QC, NCR, and Cost Analysis available on all plans - normally gated to Growth and Scale
  • No trial period running - the trial countdown does not start until Billing Mode turns ON
You are currently in the best possible position: using the full platform for free. There is nothing you need to do differently - just use all the features.

What You See in the App

While Billing Mode is OFF, the app's billing-related UI looks different from normal:

LocationWhat You See (Beta)What You'll See (Production)
Settings → BillingYour plan name with "Beta / Free" status. No payment method required.Your plan name, next billing date, payment method, and upgrade options.
Feature gates (e.g., QC)No gates - all features accessible regardless of plan.Plan gate shows if you try to access a feature above your plan.
Landing page pricingShows "Free during Early Access" - no prices are published while billing is off. Will show real plan prices once billing is enabled.

When Billing Mode Turns ON

The switch from Early Access to paid billing is a platform-wide toggle. We will communicate the transition date and pricing to every organization in advance, before any charge is applied. Exact timing and process are still being finalized.

Plan Selection at Transition

At the transition point, each organization's admin will need to:

1

Choose a plan

Select Starter, Growth, or Scale based on the features you've been using during Early Access.

2

Add a payment method

Billing is processed via Stripe (web) or the Shopify subscription API (embedded app).

Your data is completely safe throughout this transition. Choosing a lower plan means some features become read-only (you can still view old QC records on Starter) but no data is deleted.

Shopify Billing vs Web Billing

IEMSuite supports two billing channels. Your channel depends on how you first registered:

Billing TypeHow You RegisteredWhere Payment Is Processed
Web BillingSigned up at app.iemsuite.comStripe - managed in Settings → Billing → Web Subscription
Shopify BillingInstalled from the Shopify App StoreShopify - charged through your Shopify subscription alongside other app fees
Shopify and web billing have the same plan tiers and pricing. The difference is only in how and where the charge appears. Shopify billing charges are bundled with your Shopify invoice.

FAQ

Can I change my billing channel from Shopify to Web (or vice versa)?

Not currently. The billing channel is determined at registration. Contact support at [email protected] if you need to migrate.

Can I cancel at any time?

Yes. Cancel from Settings → Billing. Cancelling does not delete your operational data.
