QC Overview
How quality control works in IEMSuite: when inspections are created, what each result does to the lot, and how to turn QC on for a product.
Quality control holds new stock back until it has been inspected. It is available on the Growth plan and above, under Manufacturing → Quality control.
What Is QC in IEMSuite?
- Inspections - one per lot, with the test parameters defined for that product
- Results - Pass, Conditional or Fail, which set the lot status
- Non-conformance reports (NCRs) - created when you need to investigate a problem
- Quarantine - a list of lots held back for review
Who can inspect, create NCRs or change test parameters depends on the permissions in each person's role. Roles are fully customizable in Workspace settings → Roles & permissions.
When QC Is Triggered

QC Outcomes

| FAIL | REJECTED | Blocked from use; open an NCR to record the investigation |
A conditional result never splits the lot; the whole lot is quarantined.
QC and Inventory
Lots in PENDING_QC, QUARANTINE or REJECTED cannot be allocated to orders, shipped or consumed in production, and they are not pushed to Shopify as available stock.
Enabling QC for Products

Go to Inventory → Products and open the product
Edit it.

Turn on "Quality Control Required"
New lots of this product, received or produced, start in PENDING_QC with an inspection.

Save
Existing AVAILABLE lots are not changed.
