Locations & Warehouses
Set up multiple warehouses and storage locations in IEMSuite, map them to Shopify fulfillment locations, and configure your default inbound location.
IEMSuite supports multi-location inventory. Each location represents a physical place where stock can be stored - a warehouse, a retail shelf, a production floor bin, or a 3PL site.
Locations Overview
Every stock lot belongs to exactly one location. When you log inbound stock, receive production output, or process a transfer, you specify which location the stock moves into. Reports and dashboards can be filtered by location.
| Location Type | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| WAREHOUSE | Main Warehouse, Chicago 3PL | Top-level storage facility; can be mapped to a Shopify fulfillment location |
| AISLE | Aisle A, Cold Storage Row 3 | Named aisle or row within a warehouse |
| RACK | Rack A-01, Shelf B-03 | Individual rack or shelf within an aisle |
| BIN | Bin A-01-03, Pick Slot 12 | Smallest storage unit - a specific bin or slot on a rack |
| QUARANTINE_ZONE | QC Hold Zone, Quarantine Bay | Designated area for lots pending QC or under quarantine; blocked from fulfillment |
Creating a Location
Go to Inventory → Locations
Click "Add Location" to open the creation form.
Enter a name and type
Pick the location type that best fits the physical space. The type affects which features are available (e.g., only Warehouse-type locations can be mapped to Shopify).
Set address (optional)
Used for shipment documents and 3PL integrations.
Save
The location is immediately available for inbound logging and stock transfers.
Default Location
One location can be marked as the Default. The default location is pre-selected when logging inbound stock and creating manual stock adjustments. You can change the default at any time in Inventory → Locations.
Shopify Location Mapping
When Shopify integration is enabled, each IEMSuite warehouse-type location can be mapped to a Shopify fulfillment location. Inventory levels are pushed to the mapped Shopify location when stock changes occur.
Transferring Stock Between Locations
Stock transfers move a lot (or part of a lot) from one location to another without creating an inbound or outbound transaction. To transfer:
Open the Stock Lot you want to move
Navigate to Inventory → Stock Lots and find the lot.
Click "Transfer"
Select the destination location and the quantity to transfer.
Confirm
A transfer transaction is recorded. If the lot is split, two lots now exist - one at the source, one at the destination.
